But faith without works is dead. We should not only pray, we should act, each contributing the best [they] have to the common purpose, each willing to make any sacrifice necessary – not a sacrifice reluctantly made, but as one who offers all [they] have for two great purposes – one, in a certain sense, a selfish one, for we all desire self-preservation, the other, in the greater sense, that there can be no individual self-preservation without the preservation of all.

What does selfless-service mean to you?

Selfless service is being in service to the whole as part of your very breath. In a sense, it's the highest form of self service, as unity is the reality of all there is. Did you ever notice those times when you are out and about and something happens and you find yourself struggling because you are being called to action while simultaneously having a conversation in your head that it's not your business? Maybe you see a person with no home who needs food? Maybe you see some trash on the ground in front of you? Maybe some policy is being proposed that is racist? Maybe someone needs to take out the trash in your home? Maybe the sandbox is removed from the Kindergarten playground and replaced with astro turf? You are struggling because you are being selfish. Right now, on this planet, many are struggling with those kind of internal conflict conversations...I'm just me. What can one person do? It's not my business. I don't know what to do. I'm in a hurry. Someone else can do it. I could get hurt. What if I get sued? I don't have time to get involved. Someone won't like me., etc., etc...Those internal dialogs are calls to service and greater life. Sometimes we think we don't know what to do when we really do. It's a privileged way to pretend and do nothing. Good morning! How can I be of service today? Easy answer: Do all the little things with attention, love and joy. I mean really, make up a song and sing out loud! Hard answer: Silence the internal conversations that help you agree with your smallness and contribute generously of your life.
